With the release of pokemon home and the ability to transfer pokemon from all pokemon games I have been wanting to play some older games on the 3ds. I had a 3ds but I made the mistake of trading it in last year because I did not play it anymore. I had pokemon ultra moon on that 3ds but since I had a switch and at that time there was not pokemon home. I did not see a reason to keep the 3ds and that game. I am heavily regreating the decision today bc I had a lot of good pokemon and I put a lot of time into that game. One of the main reasons I want to replay that game is there was every legendary that had been relased so far in that game. I do not know if those legendarys will every be reintroduced again. I would like to replay that game and maybe some older pokemon titles but I do not know if it is worth it to buy a 3ds when I already have a switch.

No one can tell you if it's worth it, because they're not you.

To me it sounds like it would be worth it for you. Depends on your willingness to spend

If you want to play those games, definitely worth it. Plus you can play DS games on it too

That is probably what I am going to do, Nintendo is selling a 2ds xl with Mariocart 7 that I am planning to get

Honestly, Mario Kart 7 is one of the games that makes the New 3DS XL 3d actually worth it. The New 3DS models added a second face tracking camera to keep the 3D effect in focus much better that the old 3DS models did.

If you're in the US (and maybe Canada, I'm not sure), you can get a refurbished New 2DS XL directly from Nintendo for $99.

Nintendo's online store

They're pretty much brand new. I bought mine there a couple of years ago and it's still working great.

Comes with a 1yr warranty too.

Refurbished 2DS or 2DS XL from Nintendo tbh.  The New 2DS XL has better performance and specs, but if you're wanting to go in as cheap as possible, the OG 2DS isn't bad.
