I have a i5 7400 that might be dead, but I don't know, because the motherboard died. Does anyone know if I can get the cpu benched to test it? Does micro center offer it. I live in central Illinois, and the nearest micro center is like 2hrs away, so that probably won't work.

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

Probably not since they would need an old motherboard to test it, and even if they did offer to test and diagnose it would probably be cheaper to just buy a 2nd hand compatible motherboard off eBay or Craigslist and test it yourself - and at least then you end up with a motherboard to use if it works.

depends on where you live. if you know any small computer shops near your place you could head down there, pay around 5-10 bucks and get them to test it.

If you cant get a shop to test it, you could buy a cheap used motherboard and then sell them together as a combo deal.

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

If all else fails you can just sell all the parts individually and sell the CPU as unknown condition/untested, buyers risk. Though from my experience it's pretty rare for CPUs to die without physical damage.
