CPU temperature 100 & crash ?

I have on indication why this happened but ran Cinebench on the CPU and only ran a few seconds before the temperature was 100c and crashed. I had ran it a month ago and was pretty good, this time It's as if there was no heat sync or fans attached. The idle temp is roughly 43c and general usage seems fine, is this a hardware problem or could it be software?

 

I should add ... I was recently reorganising the cables and pretty sure I plugged everything back as it should be. How can I find what the problem is?

Full spec list? Ambient temps? How old's the thermal paste on the CPU?

What cooler? Re seat the cooler. Reapply food thermal paste.

I took it all apart but not touch the heatsync just to see if there may be some other explination and I don't think there is, however seems to be slightly cooler after just doing that. Does Noctua have any reports of failure? Just looking at the options wondering if I should try the Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4.
