i7 8750h cpu clock speed goes down while doing benchmark

hi guys i just noticed a problem in my laptop, when i try to run any benchmark software like TSbench of throttleStop or cinebench my cpu clock speed come to 3200 Mhz but usually it is 3800 Mhz on idle. Original clock speed was 4000 Mhz. My laptop is plugged in. I think my cpu is not getting full power, can anyone help. I have provided image of throttle setting and while benchmark is on

It's "throttling" because it's hitting the thermal and power limits. It's not going to stay at max boost if it's exceeding temps or the 45w tdp, and it says you're almost hitting 100c, max load benchmarks will surely exceed 45w too. Anything above the base frequency of 2.2ghz is considered boosting for that processor.

so what is the solution to this problem???

Use Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and downvolt the CPU by -0.150v it will solve all your issues. Ditch all these programs.

There is no solution, your laptop's cooling is just not good enough to keep it at max boost all the time. Even if the cooling were good enough, it would still downclock because it's hitting the 45w tdp limit. That's just how laptop cpus are.

Get rid of everything except for Intel Extreme Tuning Utility, use Cinebench R15 to see if it clocks to 3.9Ghz on all cores.

Wrong, manufacturers give all CPUS certain voltage which is usually too much. This is because they don't want BSODs on a new machine. So they come in overvolted straight from the box. User can simply downvolt it and lose 10c with no penalty. CPU also becomes faster and can sustain best boost clock for longer.

There is no solution, it's just the way the laptop is designed. You can try one of those laptop stands with a fan underneath to keep it a little cooler but it won't make a huge difference.

Yeah, you're out of luck. Running at 100*C will destroy the laptop over time.

 

Best you can do is buy Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut and replace the paste. And in the future, atop buying shit laptops with hot CPUs that can t power or cool them properly

I re-pasted the laptop with artic mx-4, 4 moths ago as temperatures were high, after replacing the paste it was good but now again high temp

MX-4 is average paste and the laptop has probably built up dust.

Agree. Use Thermal Grizzly Kyronaut and it will improve.

Also, try to maybe do -0.200mv

 

But not sure if it's worth it.

Also, be very careful with throttle atop as it can actually destroy a laptop if used without consideration
