Hey there! So I am planning my next PC build, which will probably be based around AMD Zen 2 (maybe zen 3, but haven’t made a commitment yet.) and I was wondering, should I use the stock cooler or invest in a tower cooler ? Not really into overclocking but might overclock and play with voltage a bit if I want some extra performance. So should I get a stock cooler, or buy a tower cooler ?

For Zen2 a $40 cooler will suffice with PBO enabled.

Considering Ryzen is pretty much maxed out of the box, I’d suggest just enabling PBO in the bios which will let the CPU control its speeds and voltages.

stock cooler works, but is loud. if you don't mind it, stay with stock. if you want a silent system, get a $40-$50 air cooler and you'll be fine.

i'd start with stock cooler, keep it for a few weeks and see if the noise annoys you or not.

i've changed my stock cooler after 2 months of my 2600x sounding like a vacuum cleaner. I now have a gelid phantom that is quieter than the PSU fan haha
