Migration SSD to SSD

Can i fully migrate my OS SSD to another SSD with the Acronis True Image 2020 Trail for free?

Can't say I've used that specific piece of software, but I have cloned drives (with OSes installed) from one drive to another using clonezilla with no issues. So it is possible, as long as the software you're using works well. Based on internet sentiment, I'd be inclined to believe Acronis is good, and that should be possible. But I'll let someone who's actually used it confirm that, though.

Are you just trying to move the OS or the entire drive?

 

If just the OS, I have had no experience with that.  Others will have to comment.

 

If the entire drive, we covered that in the other thread pretty thoroughly I thought.

You can't move just the OS.  You need the rest of the stuff on the drive to be cloned too.  Lots of hidden partitions required for boot.

I'd recommend using Macrium Reflect Free but Acronis will work also.  Just make sure the new SSD is at least as big as the current one.

from the looks of things, the trial for acronis is quite limited, if you happened to have bought a samsung SSD you can use samsung's tool to migrate your stuff.

Yes, Acronis is fine. So it Macrium.

no, it's all in the software. Wattch a video to understand it before you do it.

Yes, you will after cloning.  The BIOS won't know automatically which one you want, so you'll have select it in the BIOS.
