Generic pci express x16 extender

Is it ok to use an generic pci express x16 extender for my graphic card gtx 1060 .

If there will be any performance issues ?

You should be fine, as long as you connect that power cable to the power supply, if you plan to buy cable like in the picture.

 

But really, aim for something of a bit better quality than the pictured cable.

the main issue with some generic 'cheapo' extension is that you basicly have no expectation of shielding, meaning there *could* be signalling issues, depending on the environment, and just how poorly it is made.

 

and all in all.. honestly.. is buying a decent one such a kick in the budget?

I understand they increase some lag things slightly.  Might not matter.  The whole electrical tape thing is a bit disturbing.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

I've had some bad expierence with them , they dont like a few bends and a few had bad signal losts when under load.

 

any relative cheap 30€/$ shielded cable did the Job for me.
