Need help with GPU Wattage and PCIE wattage.

Go to solution Solved by mahyar,

if you want to undervolt and downclock you should use 1650

Hi, I have a motherboard that has a 50 watt pcie x16 slot but the gpu I'm getting is 75 watts. What should I do? I'm getting a gtx 1650. I have a 300 watt psu.

Get a 1650 with a 6 pin power connector and if your psu doesn’t have a 6 pin pcie connector you could get an adapter.

GT 1030. And you probably won't be doing much gaming without upgrading the entire system.

You could just put it in and see what happens. If it doesn’t work you could turn the power limit down in msi afterburner and it would run at a lower clock speed.

Or the board could fuck itself as it probably lacks OPP

You mean like running a 75W card on a 50W max slot? Aka overloading by 50%?

If you turn the power limit down so it can only draw 50 watts it will probably be fine.

you didnt get it? 75w is maximum power at maximum load if the gpu load is not heavy he can turn on pc

75W is an arbitrary Nvidia rating. The 1650 usually hovers at 80W under load and if the slot has a hard cap at 50W then the downclocking and severe limits needed will make the 1650 utterly pointless.

Sigh, those janky videos really should be curated...

Again, do it at your own risk - those youtube channels want clicks, not to actually inform you on anything

if it was useful give it a like :) btw if your into linux pay a visit here
