Hello,

I built my first pc roughly 3 months ago. Have not had any issues since and loving it!

This started 2 days ago, when I woke up in the morning I noticed my computer rebooted sometime over night. I think played with the settings so that the computer would not reboot so I could hopefully find the issue in Event Viewer.

It just shutdown again, I pressed the power button at 7:49PM to turn it back on. I'm not sure what happened but it appeared to be off, but my RGB ram was still on... but the fans and everything else were off. So kind of confused by that..

This has only happened those 2 times, never had any issues under load even when testing it trying to recreate using cinebench etc.

Here are the logs from latest to earliest:

7:01:03 PM (Source) Kernel-Power (Event ID) 42 (Task Category) 64

The system is entering sleep. Sleep Reason: System Idle

7:01:05 PM (Source) Kernel-Power (Event ID) 107 (Task Category) 102

The system has resumed from sleep.

Assuming it shutdown after that as the next note is from when I turned it back on.

7:49:05 PM (Source) Kernel-General (Event ID) 1 (Task Category) 5

7:49:06 PM (Source) Power-Troubleshooter (Event ID) 1 (Task Category) None

The system has returned from a low power state.Sleep Time: ‎2020‎-‎07‎-‎08T23:01:03.463224400Z. Wake Time: ‎2020‎-‎07‎-‎08T23:49:06.413555300Z. Wake Source: Power Button

And then I have a number of Warnings with Event ID 10016.

Wondering is somebody can point me in the right direction... I had the PSU checked yesterday and it passed as I initially thought maybe there were power surges.

Thank you!

Have you got any ACPI Sleep states active, in the BIOS?

Has Windows Hibernate been activated?

**I frequently edit any posts you may quote; please check for anything I 'may' have amended.**

Current PC spec. in my profile.
Can I realistically call myself a gamer, if I only play ONE, twenty year old game...?

Did you test boot it, before you built in into the case?

WHY NOT...?!

Well that's really awkward.

It's never done this since I built it but the power settings had it going to sleep after 30 minutes so I am assuming that's what happened?

Not sure how or when that got changed. I don't shut it off as I run my plex server out of this PC as well.

If I encounter any further issues I will report back, thank you both for your help!

Did you have a Windows update? I have my settings reset all the time through updates, forcing regedits all over again..

You need to change the power settings.

Be aware that the reason you might never have noticed is that having any multimedia running (or even open, in some cases) will prevent the system from going to sleep. This includes:

1) Leaving a youtube tab on pause or playing

2) leaving mpc-hc or vlc on pause or playing

3) Laving a browser tab open on a page with an auto-updating script, like facebook or twitter

4) Slack, Discord and other html5-apps that use your camera or video

Since you have a Ryzen system, there is one more mystery.

https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/amd-driver-update-adds-power-plan-for-optimized-performance/#:~:text=The new AMD Ryzen Balanced,Windows 10 64-bit machine.

If you've selected the Ryzen plan, make sure that you go back and check if the "plugged in" sleep timer is set to a time you can bear or turn it off.

If you have USB hardware (like Corsair keyboards) that doesn't like going to sleep, then you may simply want it not to go to sleep at all.

ps: the people at the office who need to run a long-running process usually leave the windows media player running on a loop so it doesn't go to sleep.

Yes I had an update just before this happened apparently.

That must have been the issue...

Thank you Kisai! I am still learning and did not realize there were AMD specific options even, I have it on the High Performance one now and made sure that it is set to Never sleep.

Also that may explain why I have never had this happen before.. I am trying to remember and I feel like I had all my browsers shut except Plex which is odd for me. Normally I have like 12 tabs open on the go at all times.

So it happened again... But this time when I woke up my computer was on the lock screen and fully running.

I logged in and it was a fresh reboot as everything was closed. But I checked my advanced setup and recovery options, I have automatically restart off, so not sure why it would do that.

I switch to AMD Balanced power plan from High Performance and made sure sleep was set to never. I checked and it was set to Never under the High Performance plans as well.

The power did not flicker last night as none of my clocks either stove. microwave etc. are reset.

Screenshots attached showing the event log:

The previous system shutdown at 7:35:47 AM on ‎2020-‎07-‎09 was unexpected.
