Hey guys! So lately, I've been trying to record my gameplay in steam. I know how to take screenshots, but is there any way to record gameplays on steam without any third party softwares? I have Fraps, but I don't want to use Third Party softwares, and I also don't think that steam has a feature to record gameplays. I googled and found that some use XFire and some use webgame and some use ........

What should I use? Fraps seems good though. PlawClaw looks good too.

Thanks :)

Yeah, if you've got an nvidia card, use the free and low-resource ShadowPlay. It's going to be the smoothest and most efficient experience you'll get.

you don't have a nvidia gpu do you? if you did you could've used shadowplay, works like a charm

All these softwares, can they record as much as we want? Or is it just 10 minutes and stuff like that.

I switched to OBS from Fraps not too long ago, and while Fraps is maybe a little more flexible and the best option if you have brute force of hardware, I had to admit my GTX 470 was getting old and I needed something that could record with less of an FPS hit. OBS to the rescue!

DXTory and Bandicam were the others I tried without finding them useful at all. OBS has the right mix of impact vs. quality for me.

One "negative" with OBS is that it seems to make the image slightly brighter. For recording and editing, (which is what I do) that is not a worry as no dynamic range is lost, but if I was a streamer I would be worried as there is no built in gamma control. Maybe Nvidia control panel can deal with it somehow... Otherwise just adjust the game you are recording a bit.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

Fraps is great if you have infinite hard drive space. It sacrifices compression for performance, so I end up getting 2 minute recordings at 1080p that are 10 gigs. All of the other suggestions seem to be fine, but bandicam never runs well for me.
