Cpu upgrade

I'm wondering honestly about what cpu I should upgrade to, because my cpu has 3.20GHz and I have noticed that on Mafia 3 I just played recently it crashes due to the cpu overloading and I see that it's recommended 4.0GHz.

Cpu: i5 6500 Gpu: GTX 1070 Motherboard: MSI z170a gaming m3 Ram: 8gb

What are your CPU and GPU temps and RAM usage while playing the game? Also how much RAM do you have?

Clock speeds are not universally equivalent in performance across different CPU's. The 4.0Ghz clock speed listed on the page is not a recommended spec, but part of the name of one of the processors recommended which was actually an AMD processor.

 

If your processor is being "overloaded" (what I assume you mean is that it's pinned at high utilization) it has nothing to do with clock speed, but the amount of Cores & Threads your CPU has. Your i5 6500 is a 4 Core, 4 Thread CPU that lacks hyperthreading, so I am not surprised that is is pinned at a higher utilization. If you want lower utilization while playing games, get a newer CPU with more cores and more threads. That's all you can do.

 

Btw, your specs not only meet the recommended system requirements of Mafia 3, but are heaps and bounds above it with your GTX 1070, and i5 6500.
