Has anyone refused a package delivery from Fedex before?

Long story short: I bought something from BH and Amazon last week, but no longer need them. The Amazon seller told me to just refuse the delivery and bring it to a Fedex center. He said there will be no shipping cost if I refuse the package. However, BH sent me a shipping label and told me that if I use it, it will cost me $16 and will be deducted from my refund. Even though at first, they did also say that if the item was still in box, I can refuse delivery. Well, they are still unopened, exactly the way they were delivered. I called Fedex and customer support said I need to have a return label from the seller. I can't just drop them at a Fedex center and refuse delivery.

So... I have no way to get out of paying return shipping cost? I sent an email for the Amazon seller telling him what Fedex said and asked for a label. No response yet. Guess Amazon spoiled me with their lax return...

But seriously now. $16 for a Fedex return label...? I've never paid that much for shipping before. Can I trust them?

I wouldn't feel bad paying if it wasn't so high. I've bought different things from many sites, but the most I've had to pay for shipping was $10 or so.

You are not paying just shipping fee though. Many places have restocking fees. This covers employee wages for picking, packing and shipping, and unpacking and restocking. Labor isn't free, so when you return a product, they still need to pay for their employees time despite you not buying the product.

All it takes is to put the monitor into a damn box, put some tape and label on, and that's it. Same with when they unpack it. Lol, it's like 5 minutes at most.

You pay shipping when you say it's no longer needed, even with Amazon's otherwise generous returns.

But you're not considering the time it takes to put the item back in the correct place, have it entered into the stock system and most probably inspected and/or tested. Also, that person may be taken away from handling sales, meaning lost revenue as well as having to pay their wages.

If someone has helped you out on the forum don't forget to give them a reaction to say thank you!

Just to clarify for you, when you refuse delivery, you literally need to stop the driver from giving you the package.

You need to be there when he drops it off, and you tell the driver you’re refusing delivery and they take it back with them.

If you’ve taken the box to a fedex Center, it’s too late. You already “accepted” delivery.

If you’re not home during delivery you’re pretty

much SOL.

5 is pretty quick, but we can go with that. So the shipper (5 minutes) the guy taking to initial order (2 to 5 minutes) the driver (30 minutes?) gas cost? Etc.

You see, it all adds up. $16 is pretty reasonable if you just decide you don't want it due to buyers remorse. You *could* say it's doa, but that is kind of a dick move.

↑ This.
That, is what it means to "refuse delivery". If the driver leave it on your front porch, it's the same as having accepted the delivery. The moment it leaves their system and the tracking number reads "delivered", you are FUCKED.

As such, you having the package, even if unopened, means that you need to have a return label. Because they can't reuse the same shipping label to ship it back. It's already "delivered" to you.
