For 500 dollars I would suggest either an RX 5700 XT or an RTX 2070 Super, get the parts form amazon.de, the parts are far cheaper

Main PC [The Rig of Theseus]:

CPU: i5-8600K @ 5.0 GHz | GPU: GTX 1660 | RAM: 16 GB DDR4 3000 MHz | Case: Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic | PSU: Corsair RM 650i | SSD: Corsair MP510 480 GB |  HDD: 2x 6 TB WD Red| Motherboard: Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro | OS: Windows 11 Pro for Workstations

Secondary PC [Why did I bother]:

CPU: AMD Athlon 3000G | GPU: Vega 3 iGPU | RAM: 8 GB DDR4 3000 MHz | Case: Corsair 88R | PSU: Corsair VS 650 | SSD: WD Green M.2 SATA 120 GB | Motherboard: MSI A320M-A PRO MAX | OS: Windows 11 Pro for Workstations

Server [Solution in search of a problem]:

Model: HP DL360e Gen8 | CPU: 1x Xeon E5-2430L v1 | RAM: 12 GB DDR3 1066 MHz | SSD: Kingston A400 120 GB | OS: VMware ESXi 7

Server 2 electric boogaloo [A waste of electricity]:

Model: intel NUC NUC5CPYH | CPU: Celeron N3050 | RAM: 2GB DDR3L 1600 MHz | SSD: Kingston UV400 120 GB | OS: Debian Bullseye

Laptop:

Model: ThinkBook 14 Gen 2 AMD | CPU: Ryzen 7 4700U | RAM: 16 GB DDR4 3200 MHz | OS: Windows 11 Pro

Photography:

Cameras:

Full Frame digital: Sony α7

APS-C digital: Sony α100

Medium Format Film: Kodak Junior SIX-20

35mm Film:

Lenses:

Sony SAL-1870 18-70mm ƒ/3.5-5.6

Sony SAL-75300 75-300mm ƒ/4.5-5.6

Meike MK-50mm ƒ/1.7

PSA: No, I didn't waste all that money on computers, (except the main one) my server cost $40, the intel NUC was my old PC (although then it had 8GB of ram, I gave the bigger stick of ram to a person who really needed it), my laptop is used and the second PC is really cheap.

I like tinkering with computers and have a personal hatred towards phones and everything they represent (I daily drive an iPhone 7, or a 6, depends on which one works that day)

Specs ?

Are you satisfied with the current performance of your rig ? If so

Wait

If you absolutely need an upgrade now it depends on the other specs

The best GPU you can get around that price point would be a 2070 super / 5700xt

PC: Motherboard: ASUS B550M TUF-Plus, CPU: Ryzen 3 3100, CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34, GPU: GIGABYTE WindForce GTX1650S, RAM: HyperX Fury RGB 2x8GB 3200 CL16, Case, CoolerMaster MB311L ARGB, Boot Drive: 250GB MX500, Game Drive: WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM HDD.

Peripherals: GK61 (Optical Gateron Red) with Mistel White/Orange keycaps, Logitech G102 (Purple), BitWit Ensemble Grey Deskpad.

Audio: Logitech G432, Moondrop Starfield, Mic: Razer Siren Mini (White).

Phone: Pixel 3a (Purple-ish).

I know Norway is not part of the EU but aren’t they part of some trade union ?

if that’s the case you could compare the prices in Norway and EU and order the parts maybe from there

First of all, what's your system now? CPU, memory, PSU and monitor.

What games do you like?

What are your other specs? A 5700xt / 2070 super would be limited by older CPUs.

I have an i7 3820, p9x79 deluxe asus motherboard, 16gb 1600mhz ram and an ssd ofc xD

I have an i7 3820, p9x79 deluxe asus motherboard, 16gb 1600mhz ram. Its kinda hard to play cod mw on low/medium settings at 45-62 fps, and I also want to try out the witcher 3 and rdr2, but I doubt i can play those with nice graphics

My current specs are

Cpu: intel core i7 3820

Motherboard: p9x79 deluxe asus

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 780

PSU: Corsair RM1000, 1000W PSU

Your CPU would definitely bottleneck modern GPUs so see if you could find a 3930k used and for GPU a 5600xt. Those should be within your 500 USD budget.

System Specs:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 @3.40ghz (6C/12T)
  • Motherboard: Asus Prime B450M-K
  • RAM: Corsair LPX 2*8GB DDR4 @3200mhz CL16
  • GPU: Zotac Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 (TU-104 variant) 6GB GDDR6
  • Case: Antec GX202
  • Storage
  • SSD: WD 240GB,
    HDD: Toshiba 1 TB @7200rpm
  • PSU: Corsair CX550 (2017 grey unit)
  • Display(s): BenQ 22 inches monitor, 1080p @ 60hz
  • Cooling: 3 Antec case fans 120 mm (2 blue LED front intake and 1 non LED rear exhaust)
  • Sound: Behringer UMC22 USB Audio interface, AudioTechnica ATH M20x studio headphones
  • Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64 bit.

Wow, really exotic system. Love it! But sadly on AAA modern games (Warzone, Breakpoint, Odyssey, Valorant, Fortnite, Red Dead Redemption 2, etc), buying anything better than GTX1660 Super or 1660TI you will have some noticeable bottleneck here and there, wasting GPU potential.

So if you're not planning upgrading the system to a modern platform (new Intel or AMD) in any moment of the next years, my advice is to buy something like 5600XT, GTX1660 Super or 1660TI. More than that without any upgrade would be just waste of money since 3820 would bottleneck it anyway. With these VGAs, you will be able to play anything at 1080p@High@60FPS (depending on game much more than 60FPS).

If you're planning to move to something new like Ryzen or new Intel, go and buy the best you can with 500$.
