In general, there is a night and day difference for gaming on a SSD vs HDD (I havent gamed on an HDD in years...I just cant.  I cant even OS on an HDD anymore) in terms of loading, or managing resources when limited (VRAM, RAM, etc).  Only way to do it anymore for me.  I only store personal stuff on HDDs (pics, videos etc)

nope, and having a single local drive on your computer will probably make your life easier. Assuming that you won't be punishing the drive with 24/7 workloads, I'd say a single 2TB NVMe is a safe bet.

It was recommended to get a 64GB ~ 120GB SSD for the OS and frequently used programs, and a HDD for everything else.

That was true back in 2010 ~ 2013, when SSD's were EXPENSIVE.

I remember my 120GB Corsair ForceGT SATA SSD was $130 USD.

Now, you can get a 500GB of 1TB SSD for that much money.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Just wanted to make sure I didn't suffer in performance of the drive.
