Macro Keyboard

I have recently decided to create a small Macro board with an old external num pad, could someone point me in the right direction of some software to use?

Do you have an existing numpad on your keyboard whose functions as 'just numbers' you want to preserve, or are you okay with the macros taking over the functionality of the numbers on the numpad?

I would like to keep the numpad on my keyboard as numbers and have the external one as a separate entity

In terms of free software, Interception is recommend (although it could be somewhat of a hassle to setup/maintain)

In terms of a physical (thus paid) physical peripheral, the HASU USB converter is recommend.

Sure, I’ll check it out, I’ll definitely be using a secondary keyboard in the long term so it might be a good solution

Arduino pro micro and the keyboard library would do it. Are you trying to make your own PCB? If you don't want to do it in hardware, you could probably find/write your own software to create macros in software.
