Planning for a build

I am gonna build a pc on a carpet, should i get something else to stand on, and if so what.

You can get a bedside table from somewhere like IKEA or Walmart, but running a PC on the carpet is never a good idea. Make sure it can get good airflow.

I probably should of phased this better, but im gonna build the pc on a wooden desk, im only gonna be standing on the carpet .

Keep a PSU next to you that is connected to a grounded outlet 

And put on you or touch it whenever you move

im gonna use a esd strap anyway but could i stand on a esd safe material like some cardboard

Why don't you build it on a table, or in the kitchen?

as i said im building it on my desk/table and my mom wont let me build in the kitchen
