The 4 pin PWM header on the motherboard can act as a 3 pin DC-DC header for a 3 pin fan header. This setting can be accessed in the BIOS and you do not need to purchase a PWM fan, unless you want more precise control of the fan speed (spinning lower than 50% speed for example)

Hi,

I was just wondering if there will be some compatibility issue between the stock fan included with the corsair carbide 100R and the single fan header that's present on the board besides the CPU fan header. The one on the case is a 3-pin standard fan and the one the board I assume is a 4-pin PWM header. Is there any way I can plug the fan into that header or should I consider buying a PWM fan
