So is it okay if I placed the mobo right onto the wood?

I'd still recommend standoffs. Not a good idea to mount on solid wood for a prolonged time imo...

Might be fine, though I can't guarantee anything, I tell the truth on my signature.

Heat would be a problem, if plopped on wood surface tigthly.

I'm mounting a motherboard on a wooden base I just want to know what is the safest way to do so.

What should I know before installing the motherboard on a wooden surface? Should I use standoffs? Should I screw it in? P. S motherboard will be horizontally placed.

You can do that, but you shouldn't. It will warp the motherboard and that's not healthy. Standoffs can help you make sure the motherboard is mounted flat because, you know, it's flat, and it should stay like that.

Mounting a motherboard flush to the wood isn't a good idea IMO since despite wood is an insulator it's also quite hygroscopic and not as inert as and metals, so depending on atmospheric conditions in your room there may be moisture buildup or some organic stuff going on which may manifest conductivity eventually.
