well i would but i already bought non ecc ram so it does need ecc or can it use sdram

most systems that support registered ecc can use normal ram fine, but just wait and see

so i recently ordered the parts to build my first pc. and i didnt realize at first but the title says ECC ram. idk much about ecc ram but i thought it was mainly used for server boards. is there a way to tell what type of memory this is compatible with by looking at the slots?

SO this bord uses old server parts so thts why it wants ecc.

Also registered ecc ddr3 is much cheaper than non ecc, so might as well use ecc.

ECC does not affect compatibility, but REG or non REG does so pray that it takes whatever your kit has.

Don't mean to be a bit rude but you really should do some research on this kind of stuff before buying "custom" Chinese boards like this without looking into what is needed and what is not.

Server CPU's do not require ECC memory but server CPU's will only work with certain types of server memory (Registered or Non-Registered).

Also, another thing to keep in mind is with these custom Chinese boards you could run into a slew of compatibility issues (anything from ram quantity, speed, and timing requirements to CPU gen limitations. It's not something you should dive into without at least a bit of research. Last thing you want is to sink hundreds of dollars into a build and end up having to scrap the thing because nothing works.

I fix computers and computer accessories... sometimes... when I want to...
