dual boot no efi system partition was found

Go to solution Solved by Hocigache,

I had to install Ubuntu on legacy mode and then use EeasyBCD to add Ubuntu into the OS selection menu, Thank you everyone

Hello i am trying to install linux mint on dual boot with windows 10 after i choose the OS partion and start installing i get the message error of "no efi system partition was found ..."

Note :

  • if i continue without the efi partition it will finish the installation and when i boot the system it gets stright to windows 10 without giving any message to choose the OS
  • if i convert the windows reserved system (not OS) partition to EFI type from NTFS or create a new EFI partition and choose it as the boot loader, windows wont boot and in order to boot linux i'll have to choose an option from the EFI choice in the boot option in the bios
  • the picture attached is not mine i just put it to show you the error message

so please do you have any idea how to fix it, Thanks

You're probably not creating the bootable USB correctly...  try using etcher Etcher

or tell us how you are creating the USB. So we can see if it's correct.

Please quote my post, or put @paddy-stone if you want me to respond to you.

This is simpler :

- 2 hdd

- install each OS independently in each drive.

- when boot press F9 (quick boot selector), select your os drive.

- done

both OS will have it's own chaotic partitions, running all it in 1 drive will be messy.

now with 2 drive each will have it's own boot manager, if somewhat you need to repair / modify / refresh the os, they will not effect each other.

It is simpler and straightforward, it will safe you headache in the future.

For one, I saw mbr mentioned. Create the installer with etcher or rufus in gpt mode for uefi.

I also don't see a EFI partition in that listing, it would be Fat32 with a boot flag. This leaves me to believe windows is installed in mbr mode if they are being installed to the same drive.
