GTX 660ti artifacting in ubuntu/barely working in win10

myrb26

Allright, so about a year ago i lent a gtx 660ti to a friend of mine cause he was still running a 256mb 6600gt or summin like that.

And about a month ago i got it back with the issue of i think code 13, stuck at 800x600 res and fans at 100% once drivers installed on a windows 10 install.

On linux it works for a tiny bit while artifacting and then just locking up(same issue between ubuntu, mate and fedora)

Ive tried putting it into two other systems with various configs of z77, x79 and ryzen platforms once i had free time, ive also tried cleaning the pcb and repasting it, but no changes.

And just now i tried flashing the same palit gpu bios from tpu onto it and it didnt change anything.

Would this be a memory or gpu die issue.

This is the gpu:

shes dead.. likely a problem with Memory as that is the main cause for artifacting.

If you really want to save it instead of going for an RMA, it's worth a shot to underclock the memory before doing anything extreme like that.

Ill try that first- the gpus like 8years old anyways, its just something to play around with by now

Edit: Just bios modded it a few times ranging from stock 1500mhz mem to like 900mhz and played around with some gpu clocks too, and it still had the same symptoms
