Please help SLI MISSING

Nbd508

Last night I upgraded from my z270 with an i7700k to a z390 asus hero maximus xi with a 9900k in it'

After everything was done installed and all my drivers ect. have been taken care of there's one bug i cant work out.

SLI no longer shows as an option in the nvidia suite.  I tried swapping the bridge asus supplied with a single link bridge to not avail, swapped the cards no change.  I have both showing as installed and up to date in the device manager and both detected on bios/task manager but still no sli option. reinstalled software a few times already... at witts end.

Keep trying to sign this stupid screen but it wont work...

Which GPUs do you have? Did you reinstall the SLI bridge?

Use DDU to clear out the nVidia drivers, make sure all your motherboard drivers are up to date as well. Then reinstall them.

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

Are you two talking about using this https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
I haven't but will when I get home tonight if this is the correct utility; when I installed the MOBO and CPU.  I installed 1 gpu and 1 hard drive, completed windows installation, then went back and installed the second one; same kind of install path as upgrading from a single to dual gpu's that I did way back

And are you using anything that would interfere with pci lanes and keeping the cards from running at 8x?

Not sure what changed but in my travels across the land of troubleshitting I found a utility in the bios that identifies the gpu's by slot.
At first it was ALL MESSED UP.  So to make this somewhat simple, slot 1 and slot 2, card 1 and card 2.  THE SPEEDS are recorded; it was as I should be seeing. When I first booted into the utility with both cards installed, it showed ONLY 1 card at 8x, when I removed the slot 2 card at that time it showed 0 cards present but still worked ... NO CLUE WHY?!?

Anyways, here was the chart, Running some benchmarks now... starting to think because of the looseness of the PCIE slots I got a bad or returned card??? My z270 pcie's felt much more snug.

BRIDGE.PNG

Additionally I heard back from ASUS support, they tried to convince me to install the second card in the 3rd slot even though it directly contradicts the manual and is not PHYSICALLY possible for how TERRIBLY they set this MOBO up... Really love my z270 missing it hard now.
