gtx 1070  gpu

asus z170-a  motherboard

EVGA SuperNOVA G2 750 W 80+ Gold ATX  psu

Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4-2400MHz  ram

fractal design r6 case

 

upgrade:

AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor  cpu

amd rx 5700 xt  gpu

MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX ATX AM4  Motherboard

Antec NX400 ATX Mid Tower  Case

 

my current build is my brothers from 2016, I'm looking to run games on ultra 1440p 60+ fps. This is my first time upgrading or building a pc so any help or other suggestions would be appreciated!

Just oc the cpu and get a new gpu

not sure why you would downgrade from the define R6 to that, but everything else is fine. maybe try memory overclocking with the kit you have now if you can. ignore the post above, the 6600k is already bottlenecking your gtx 1070.
