Router daisy chain ?

StonerNixon

I have like 3 or 4 modums/routers , and I don’t want to bug a switch just to have a wired connection in my other room . Could I possibly just run my 50 foot Internet cord from one router to another and then have a wired connection in my bedroom lol

You'll have to disable the functionality of the router such as NAT/DHCP/etc. to turn it into nothing more than a switch but yes.

Ouhkay that sounds easy enough , how do I disable those things ? Typing in that special number specific to the router and do it through the settings that way ? And if I do , what all do I turn off ?

Knowing the make/model/etc of the router would help but basically anything related to router functionality needs to be disabled. Then plug the cable from the main router into an LAN port on the router, not the WAN port, and you'll be good.

Ouh and also why this this router have a USB 3 port lol ? @Lurick

Storage, you could hook up an external USB HDD and share it over the network.

I can't seem to find the GUI but anything that says NAT or DHCP/DNS that you can turn off I would start with that.

If you want easy though buy a 5 port gigabit switch for under $20 :P

Or just a longer Ethernet cable to begin with.

I’ve got 50 and 100 foot . That’s about all I really need cause I live in a one bedroom apartment and it’s tiny as fuck lol the internet jack is the far right wall of the living room , and I need to get a wired connection to the left side of the bedroom xD so I figured my well see if I could just set up a mock switch and then a gas wired connections instead of just one long as cord
