What happens if my GPU isn't screwed in?

ThePUNisher96

I couldn't get my 2060 Super screwed back in so I just left it be. It weighs like 2 pounds.  Should I be worried about it damaging the motherboard/getting jolted out of alignment? I'll probably have to move my PC to another room on another floor of my house in another month or so. Should I be concerned about the GPU sliding around when carrying the PC downstairs?

I can't really notice any sag or anything as is

Why can't you put the screws back in..? Because yes, thats A LOT of stress on the slot. I have seen many mobo's with PCIe slots ripped off of them.... There should be no reason to not screw it in.

Could a ziptie function in place of a screw?

I mean, I guess. But.... just put the screw back in. It has to line up with the case, just force the screw in a bit, can't hurt anything. Sometimes they are a little tight but thats fine.

Agreed with @LIGISTX, do whatever needs to be done, but absolutely figure out a way to put the screws back in.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So based on this, looks like the screws won’t go in because of how much the card is sagging... which isn’t good to leave like this. Level the card out (just lift it up a bit) and then the screw holes will line up. Then throw some screws in it.

I posted a zoomed in pic, they like up vertically fine, but it’s sagging a lot... get some screws in there before you rip the PCIe lane off your mobo.
