What is the best automatic backup solution?

Right so I have a NAS running UNRaid, Which I want my PCs to backup to possibly nightly.

 

I'm not looking to backup a whole image of the computer but instead things like my Documents, Desktop folders etc. And also my game drive, which is a pair of 1TB Samsung 850 EVOs in Raid 0. Yes I know not best practice but it helps cut load times and it's just games, not the end of the world if it dies, just gonna be a pain in the ass to re-download 1.5TB of games.

 

What is the best free software client/server side to have it backup specified folders, possibly with things like version history too.

Backup and Restore. It's built right into Windows. Then just create an SMB share on your UnRAID, and target that shared folder.

Veeam Agent for Windows or Duplicati. Both are free.
Veeam features file restore to whole image backup but also just a backup of selected files and folders. And it is free for a single job. https://www.veeam.com/windows-endpoint-server-backup-free.html
Duplicati is also powerful free backup software that does not limit you with the number of backup jobs and features upload to probably any storage. https://www.duplicati.com/

Both provide backup history.
