Upgrade from a 1080?

Had my 1080 since launch, recently upgraded MOBO, CPU and RAM to future proof, now just wondering if its worth upgrading the GPU now? Is the 1080 still worth hanging on to for a few more years? Currently gaming at 1440p.

What FPS to you get now? The 1080 is still a beast of a card. I think whoever bought 1080, and especially 1080Ti's in their prime got the best bang for their buck out of those GPUs compared to almost any GPU launch in recent history.

 

I wouldn't upgrade now, I would atleast wait and see what Nvidia 3000 has to offer, but I simply think the jump from the 1080 series to the 2080 series isn't worth it.

Anything from a 2070 SUPER and above will be an upgrade from the 1080p. But I wouldn't recommend it as the performance bump is only 15-20%. So anything from a 2080 and up. But RTX 3000 series is rumoured to come around soon so I'd hang on for that.

Most games is 60fps, games like RDR2 having to lower settings to get consistent 60fps, kinda want to get it fully ready for Cyberpunk 2077 to play at max.

only upgrade when performance no longer meets your standards (or when you get the itch)

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Even a 2080Ti will barely hold 60FPS in RDR2 at 1440p Ultra.

Wait for Ampere and/or RDNA2 if you feel like you want an upgrade.

If you're looking to play CyberPunk 2077, just wait for the new cards to come out.
