USD $580

Games, programs: Single player/multiplayer games (Cyberpunk 2077 soon enough) Streaming, rendering/encoding videos/clips.

My current build is in my signature. However this is for CPU and/or GPU. Worth getting anything upgraded now or wait for Ampere, rocket lake or make the AMD switch.

Also motherboard not included in this budget. I have $350 set aside for that.

Honestly with an i7-7700K, you might as well put the whole budget to GPU first, you can stuff a pretty powerful graphics card in your system. Waiting for Ampere is a while, but since Cyberpunk and Ampere both arrive in September, you can justify waiting.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Is there a GPU you could recommended around my $500 USD? Just incase ampere is quite a leap from turing.

I agree with @Fasauceome, there is little benefit in upgrading your CPU if gaming is your primary use.

When I do game, I stream. If that maters.

2070 super is the best you'd get from that budget

you can stream from the GPU using nvenc, make it easy on the CPU

Who knows if rocket lake won't be a refresh again, so not much benefit in upgrading then. Also it is called lake, which refers to the general architecture, which is filled with bugs and security holes. Best guess, Intel is redoing the entire core design to fix them but that takes a long time. Going AMD is an option if you do a lot of streaming without utilizing hardware encoders. First though I'd look into that before making the switch. Keeping that money for a new RTX card with 8 GB or more would be better in my opinion.

I sure hope its not 14mn. I heard same time as comet next year for rocket lake. The only time they have a board that will support next gen cpu from intel. I hear and watch a few reviews that the 10900k is only 10% difference for certain applications against the amd 3900x. Which would be also be nice to have the 12 core/24 threads. Then Zen 3 could be quite different performance wise, then just kind of wasted my budget.

You talking about ampere or current RTX?

There is a 2070S XC ultra from EVGA (which is my go-to GPU brand) at my micro center open box for $520 seems nice.

the XC ultra is a pretty high end unit from EVGA, sounds like a good deal

Zen 3 was promised to have at least a 15% IPC increase (which AMD promised and delivered for Zen 2) so they are poised to take the performance crown.

Yeah AMD has sure improved finally saw a 10700k compared with AMD chips and the 3700x in all test were right up against only single digit fps drop in games which no one will notice, I know I won't. So that's seems like the way to go. Also saving over $100 that way instead of saving like $20. I'll decide for sure if you don't any input towards one or the other that I couldn't find.
