overclocking

i have an intel cor i5 3570k  and i have over clocked it to 4.5 ghz and set the voltage to 1.255v 

this gives me a large frame boost but it is inconsistant and i often get random drop down to sub 20 frame rates does anybodey know why?

Maybe it's unstable overclock..add more voltage or tune down clock speed...

^ this and can you tell us what the specs of the machine maybe it is just an aging psu or mobo

Sometimes it hits 80 + degrees but this cpu is supposed to thermal throttle around 100 

what do you suggest I do because I’m not getting the best frames in gta with the overclock I get around 100 and some random dips

What game? It could just be because it's an old CPU with only 4 cores, some games will get frame rate drops. Do you have the same issues when not overclocked?

up the voltage to 1.3 and can you please tell us the specs of your machine and how old they are

CPU and mobo from 2012 and my cooler is the cooler master ml240l

@jake pace Check event viewer for WHEL WHEA-Logger hardware correctable errors. This would indicate that your CPU is slightly unstable.

Yeah, your OC is definitely not stable. More voltage, or lower clocks.

DCOM errors are normal in most systems. Typically it's an application getting denied privileges. At least now the CPU is stable.

Check cpu utilization

4 cores and threads for gta is not that much and you could be cpu limited 

So check utilization

Maybe it's not even the cpu in the first place

What about GPU 

Do you have the latest drivers did you try ddu ?
