Are you sure Windows was installed onto the array or was it a dedicated drive then 3 disks in a RAID5? A drive failure in a RAID5 still doesn't explain why Windows no longer boots. Even if it did removing the failed drive then rebuilding the array with a new one should fix it.
Moving forward if you use denser disks you could use RAID10 for more redundancy.
