Need Some Advice For My First Build

Hey forum.

Looking for some advice for my first build, I'm trying to achieve 1440p 144hz for lighter games, and eventually an Index VR. Here's a quick list that I put together:

My budget is pretty flexible, I'm just trying to get an estimate for how much I need to save for this system.

Thanks. :)

you'll hit 1440p at 100fps with the 2070 super, source: me who runs games at medium high at 1440p at 100-120fps on a 2080.

CPU: Intel core i7-8086K Case: CORSAIR Crystal 570X RGB CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H150i PRO RGB Storage: Samsung 980 Pro - 2TB NVMe SSD PSU: EVGA 1000 GQ, 80+ GOLD 1000W, Semi Modular GPU: MSI Radeon RX 580 GAMING X 8G RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum 64GB (4 x 16GB) DDR4 3200mhz Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E Gaming

If you get the tomahawk max instead which is still fine you can spend not that much more money on a 2080, if you want, or if you want a really good board the tuf gaming plus is great.

Laptop: HP Spectre x360 13t, i7 8565u with 16 gigs, 512 gig  nvme ssd, UHD 620 4k

Other laptop: Acer Chromebook cb3 431 with 4 gigs, celeron n3060 with hd 400 and 16 gigs eMMC soon to be a minecraft server?

Thanks for the reply, which games are you playing? I guess I should specify that I care more about the high refresh rate than the 1440p.

You could also consider waiting for zen 2+ and gefore 30xx

Admittedly, I didn't put much effort into researching the motherboard... Do you know if these boards will last into the future? I've heard that AMD might be changing their socket type.

I'll take that into consideration. Hopefully by the time I'm ready to buy I'll know more about the next gen stuff.

GTA V which is a poorly built game from 2015
final fantasy xv, a graphically intensive game from 2018

final fantasy xiv, an mmo from 2013

crash bandicoot n sane trilogy
spyro reignited trilogy
monster hunter world
overwatch
destiny 2
forza horizon 4
and some niche anime games
I'm a little too lazy to run benchmarks, but ultra/high and capping my frame rate at the same time is impossible for these games
I am willing to test one or two at your selection and settings since my i7-8700k should be close enough.

If they do, it will be 5th gen or later, and b450 will support 4th gen, and the tomahawk max is only about 120 USD, so not that expensive

Sorry for the late response, I've been busy. I don't really have a super strict budget as I am just trying to see how much I need to save up. One question about the 2080 super, would it be bottlenecked by the Ryzen 3600? Would the system need a better CPU?

It should be fine, the ideal situation would be a 3700x/2080super but for a pure gaming rig you won’t notice a difference

Would a 3700x work on the build that @SavageNeo suggested? Would any of those parts need to be changed to accomidate it?
