Running a 2070S and GTX 980 at the same time.

So, I've done some reading and looked up some stuff but want to know if anybody has any personal experience running two different cards. No, I am not trying to get SLI like benefits.Simply another card to set as my encoder when i record or to use strictly to render so i can play games as I render. Any tips? Is it worth it? This wouldn't be a thought if i wasn't able to get a 980 for an ridiculously low price.
