do you plug in the monitor into the gpu or into the motherboard?

do you have ram in slots 2 and 4? can you get into bios?

If the box of the motherboard does not say Ryzen 3000 Ready anywhere on it, I would suspect that it is an older release B450 and was not shipped with the bios to support Ryzen 3000 series processors.

If you have a CPU_FAN and CPU_OPT header for the cooler, please make sure the connecter from the cooler is plugged into the CPU_FAN header. This symptom was identical to my friends X570 build, did not get a POST due to the header being plugged into CPU_OPT header.

CPU: Ryzen 7 3800X GPU: Reference 5700XT (Asus) Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix X470-F RAM: Corsair 32GB Vengeance 3600Mhz PSU: Corsair RM850X White

Cooling: Corsair H115i RGB Storage: 500GB WD SN750 M.2, 4TB Samsung EVO SSD Case: NZXT H500i White

Keyboard: Asus ROG Strix Flare (MX Red) Mouse: Corsair Sabre RGB

All the parts seem to be work including motherboard and GPU. I have also cleaned the RAM using a static free brush

It does not say Ryzen 3000 Ready but 2000 ready. The B450 series can support 3000 series I am sure. The fan is plugged in correctly and it works. The whole PC turns on.

If a B450 board supports 3000 series processors out of the box it will say Ryzen 3000 Ready on the box. I would suspect the Bios is out of date. Matter of fact I am confident thats the problem. I would try and find an older 2000 or 1000 ryzen or even an athlon processor to plug in and update bios, other than that you will have to either take it to your local pc hardware store and get the techs to update bios, or submit a ticket to AMD for a loaner CPU to do the update.

I think this has to do with the CPU and motherboard not being compatible because the motherboard isn't flashed.

your motherboard doesn't have the correct bios for ryzen 3000 series. you need to find a way to update the bios first. first thing would be to contact the vendor (if local) to ask if they can do it for you. other options are borrowing a 2000 or 1000 series cpu from a friend or requesting a kit from amd.

Yeah unfortunately @ferret63 you got an older board that was made and boxed before ryzen 3000 processors were released. Gotta do that bios update my friend.

you could return it if you can do the for free and replace it with a board that is ryzen 3000 ready. msi b450 max series all support ryzen 3000, so does asrock b450 m/ac. and they are all better than the strix board you bought anyway.
