They come with decent thermal compound preapplied on the stock cooler.

thermal compound comes with the coolers, and if ur using stock cooler the paste is enough.

i am i was orginally gonna buy a aio for my 3600x but was told that if i dont oc and i dont plan on it will work fine with the stock cpu cooler

A Ryzen CPU will respond to better temps so if you wanted an AIO you should get it knowing you'll likely only see slightly better performance.
