What screws to use on PSU?

YuppityYap

So, I ordered a RM850X and when I opened the package, i was surprised to see that no screws had come with the power supply. Usually, I just use the power supply screws that come in the box to install my PSU. Im using an nzxt h510i and it comes with 6-32 Hexagonal screws, should I just use these? Or do PSU screws use a different thread pattern

Now I honestly can't remember if my PSU came with screws, or if they came with the case.

I would look at the screws provided with the case and see if they work. If they're the wrong thread/size you should be able to tell if they don't screw in right.

You bought a new RM850x from an authorized reseller and not third party or refurbished and it didn't come with screws?  There should have been four screws in the box.

The screws for the PSU are 6-32.  Same size used to hold drives, cards and occasionally side panels.

Make sure the ones you use aren't too long:  https://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=168396

Screws usually come with the power supply, not the case (unless there's a bracket or something). Honestly you could just put any ol' screw in if it looks right, but the most important thing would be not to force it. If you can find one that works well through trial and error it'll just save you customer support grief.

They're typically pretty short, like the width of your pinky fingernail. If you start feeling excess resistance before it's screwed in all the way then stop and you know it's too long.

That's why I sent you that link to the Corsair forums.  3/16" or 5mm.

Does the part number for the PSU end with "RF" (for "refurb")?

Count the cables and see if you're not missing any, too.

That's just Amazon being Amazon, i've bought Corsair RM750x there too, don't remember the reseller but it were fulfilled by Amazon, i pretty sure it was Amazon itself. The box came without any seals and the PSU itself were very obviously used (a bit of dust here and there), thankfully nothing were missing as far as i'm aware but still. It's not refurbished either. Didn't bother to return, it's working fine for a year already.

Well, OP said "direct from Corsair via Amazon", which let me to believe that it was from the Corsair webstore, using Amazon as an outlet.

But looking at Amazon now today, and I don't see "Corsair" as a seller.  Maybe because there's no inventory?

But I do agree with you.  MANY times when I order something "fulfilled by Amazon", it's been someone else's return.  It's as if when someone checks the "did not need" box on the return form, Amazon assumes it was never opened and was thrown back on the shelf.  There are MANY negative reviews on products where people say things like "expected toaster, received block of wood... one star", which of course has NOTHING to do with the product, yet permanently damages the product's over all score.

TL/DR:  People are assholes.
