RAM Problem

So lately my games keeps freezing and freezing. I enabled XMP and I got my 3600mhz speed and that's where the problem occurs. I put it on 2133mhz and 3200mhz and it seems like its stable. 

My ram is G.Skill Trident Z 16GB (2x8) DDR4 3600MHZ. Is there anyway to set it to 3600mhz?

 

MOBO: MSI MPG X570 AM4

PROCESSOR: R7 3700X 

GRAPHICS CARD: MSI RTX 2080 SUPER TRIO

RAM: G.Skill Trident Z 16GB (2x8) DDR4 3600MHZ

PSU: SEASONIC FOCUS 750W GOLD MODULAR

COOLER: Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4

When you enable dcop / xmp you should get to the advertised speed 

If that didn't work update your chipset firmware and update your bios and that should fix it

I tried enabling XMP and it also gives me crashes randomly. 

I have also updated my bios, how do i update my chipset firmware?

Through amd's site

And one more thing 

Do you have your ram in slot 2 and 4 stupid question I know lol 

And try maybe using 1 stick at a time 

Before updating the chipset firmware / drivers

And try maybe setting your soc voltage to 1.1 and see if that helps

i'll try to update it now. and yes its in slot 2 and 4. 

im afraid to mess with the voltage tho. SOC voltage not dram voltage right? (Im new to this lol sorry)

Yes soc voltage 

And one more thing maybe try manually ocing

I also tried that by disabling XMP then setting my dram freq to 3600mhz (but i did not mess with the other settings, after i set my freq i saved it and reboot) and it still crashes my games. btw, enable XMP > then set soc voltage?

I recommend  setting the soc voltage just a tad higher and then enabling xmp

If that didn't work and you updated everything I'm out of ideas

seems like updating the chipset solved the problem (without touching soc yet) LOL. i'll try to update you when my game crashes again. THANKS MAN!!

Can you try 1 stick at a time and see if it crashes or not

Tried removing it but the lock is too tight. I can't remove it since the cooler is too big lol. Now I tried enabling XMP and set my soc to 1.1v

Yes run memtest for a while just to make sure that the dimms are working fine and as expected (crossing out fingers lmao )

To solve my issue, I downgraded to 3400mhz, u think its fine?

I would almost contact G.Skill to see what they say. Something is clearly wrong.

This is very unlikely considering zen 2 has a way better interconnect and a better imc but it could be that the OP lost the silicon lottery but as I said it's very unlikely

I tried AMD Dram Calculator + Thaiphoon Burner awhile ago, when I set all the timings recommended by the calculator after I boot up it says memory overclocking failure.

I wanna try it again but I'm kind of afraid to destroy my ram.

What cas latency do you have and what cas latency did the dram originally have

It's most likely not enough DRAM voltage.

If you buy 3600Mhz ram, it should run at 3600Mhz.

Yes I know lol 

But maybe by the slim ( very very slim ) chance that the memory controller can't handle it because it has bad silicon 

But you must be stupid unlucky do have such bad memory controller
