Buying A Modem

So as of right now my family is renting a modem. My dad led me do the research on what modem to get. This netgear modem is upposed to be the best 1gb modem. My dad is not purchaseing it yet because he wants to wait for the price to drop. If you go to this amazon link for it says it is in stock for 130 but if you actulaly look at it the only options are used. So I am wondering if there is anything cheaper that is relible the price has been about 165 till today when it switched to all used options.

The CM1000 and the SB8200 are both great modems. I see the SB8200 is a bit cheaper right now:

i think i have that modem i was also looking at the Motorola MB8600 but it seems that is out of stock also.

the thing you should look out for is the puma chipset since there seems to be a lot of problems with it

Yah, the puma 6 was mostly DOCSIS 3.0 modems, I don't think there are any Puma 6 chips in the DOCSIS 3.1 modems.

some people say puma 7 has the latency issue some people say its fixed so idk but apparently they both have security issues
