I recently booted up my old gaming pc from when I was younger, mainly to play mount and blade bannerlord, but also other newer titles. Bannerlord runs pretty choppy on lower to mid settings, the game runs about 40fps however constantly fluctuating and sometimes freezes at more demanding parts of the game. I want to upgrade my pc so I can play the game smoothly at decent texture settings and constant fps. I need some help as I am not super knowledgable about pc's. I have in mind some new parts to add that will increase fps and texture quality, however I would like some feedback on my upgrade ideas and maybe some new recommendations. Also I need help with compatibility. (keep in mind my pc was built in 2013, however I upgraded the power supply recently)

My current specs:

CPU: AMD A10-6700 3.7 GHz (overclocked to 4.1)

Motherboard: Asus F2A55-M LE Micro ATX FM2 Motherboard

GPU: Zotac GeForce GTX 760 2 GB Video Card

Memory: ADATA 8 GB (1 x 8 GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

               ADATA Premier Series 4 GB (1 x 4 GB) DDR3-1333 Memory

PSU: Corsair CV 550 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply

Upgrades:

I was looking into getting a new GPU: Gigabyte GTX1660 6GB SUPER OC PCIe Video Card GV-N166SOC-6GD

And also new RAM: 16GB DDR3 Corsair CMY16GX3M2A1600C9 (2x8G) 1600MHz Vengeance PRO RAM

I can't find cpu upgrades for my mother board and I don't know how much they'll help performance.

Thanks

Budget (including currency): Nothing over $1000 Australian

Country: Australia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mount and Blade Bannerlord.

The A10 6700 is a bit slow for modern standards, you could upgrade that

Main PC [The Rig of Theseus]:

Secondary PC [Why did I bother]:

CPU: AMD Athlon 3000G | GPU: Vega 3 iGPU | RAM: 8 GB DDR4 3000 MHz | Case: Corsair 88R | PSU: Corsair VS 650 | SSD: WD Green M.2 SATA 120 GB | Motherboard: MSI A320M-A PRO MAX | OS: Windows 11 Pro for Workstations

Sony SAL-75300 75-300mm ƒ/4.5-5.6

Meike MK-50mm ƒ/1.7

PSA: No, I didn't waste all that money on computers, (except the main one) my server cost $40, the intel NUC was my old PC (although then it had 8GB of ram, I gave the bigger stick of ram to a person who really needed it), my laptop is used and the second PC is really cheap.

I like tinkering with computers and have a personal hatred towards phones and everything they represent (I daily drive an iPhone 7, or a 6, depends on which one works that day)

new CPU+board+ram

760 isn't a bad card right now but a used rx 470/570 would be a decent upgrade.

Good luck, Have fun, Build PC, and have a Wii and PS2 as your only consoles.

Would the new gpu alone make a decent increase?

It will give a bit of a fps boost but your cpu is just so weak it will still hold it back massively and the fps fluctuation and stutter will not go away and will pretty much stay as it is.

Is it fairly easy to setup old storage on a new pc, will it automatically detect windows?

What CPU+Board+Ram would you recommend if I were to keep the 760?

Thanks for your help mate. Im gonna go for these (I changed a couple things as they are easier to get where I am):

Motherboard: Gigabyte AM4 ATX X570 UD DDR4 Motherboard

Memory: 16GB DDR4 (2x8GB) G.Skill 3600Mhz Ripjaws V RAM Kit PN

CPU: AMD AM4 Ryzen 5 3600 Six Core 3.6GHz 65W CPU

Are the changes I made essentially the same?

Also I am leaving the GPU out because I will need to buy separately. If I want to improve my game performance right now what should I buy first?

the new motherboard you picked has worse vrms. if you don't plan on ever getting more than an 8 core cpu in it, it's fine, but if you think you might at some point upgrade to a 12 or 16 core, you'd need a better one.

the rest looks ok.

in terms of fps, by changing cpu and mobo you'll get rid of stutters and freezees and you'll have  smoother and more consistent frames, but not much higher average fps.

by changing the gpu first, you'll get higher average fps, but still with frame drops, lag and stutters.
