Lexmark cs410n not connecting

Hey y'all

I have a Lexmark cs410n lazerprinter, but i can't connect to it.

It isn't wireless, so i use an ethernet cable for connection.

For some reason I have trouble with it working out.

I'm using this driver: http://support.lexmark.com/index?locale=EN&page=product&userlocale=EN_US&productCode=LEXMARK_CS410&focusedTab=DOWNLOADS#2

I am just downloading, and running it.

Anyone have experince?

Make sure that the printer received an IP address after connecting it via ethernet. You can print your network settings via Settings > Reports > Network. If it has an IP assigned, add it by entering rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /ip into Run (Win+R).

I can't find reports. Is it under regular windows settings or control panel?

Reports are printed from the printer itself.

@PorkishPig I have found the ip adress and checked my connection. I have redownloaded the driver, the printer doesn't show up and looking it up by IP adress doesn't work.

Try what I suggested previously, add it through Control Panel via IP address by entering rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /ip into Run (Win+R).

If you meant that you already tried this, try pinging the printer in Command Prompt.

Could you provide the IP for your printer along with the IP for your computer? You can get the IP for your computer by typing ipconfig in Command Prompt and providing your "IPv4 Address".

Printer IP is 169.254.1.53 and computer IP is 192.168.0.31

Make sure that both your printer and computer are connected to the same modem/router. You will need them both on 192.168.0.XXX, otherwise they may be unable to talk to each other. If they already connected to the same device, manually set a 192.168.0.XXX IP address in the printer's TCP/IP settings under network settings.

It worked!

But the printer is set to Offline, but it's turned on.

Anything I could have done wrong?

Make sure to reboot the printer after changing TCP/IP settings.

the printer doesn't have a powerbutton, so I can't reboot it.

I have tried unplugging it, and plugging it back in, to no avail.

Make sure that you assigned an IP address that is not currently in use by one of your other devices. Also ensure that the subnet and default gateway are set to the correct values, generally that would be 255.255.255.0 for the subnet and 192.168.0.1 for the gateway.

Both of those check out.

I've checked the IP of my other printer, and the ips didn't match.

WIth your current network setup, do you have both a modem and a router? If you do, ensure that both your printer and computer the same networking component.

For example, if your printer is connected to your router's WiFi network, ensure your computer is also connected to the same router via ethernet or WiFi.

  • 3 weeks later...

After setting up the IP address in your printer, make sure you are connected to the same network where your printer is connected. You can ping your printer from the computer by following the command to check if your computer is communicating with the printer or not. If you get a reply from there then it means you are connected. Please see the animation.
