Greetings,

I am looking to upgrade my gpu and cpu. I currently have an I3 8100 and a GTX 1060 3GB. I was thinking on doing a combo of RTX 2060 super and ryzen 5 3600, but right now i can only afford one of those. So i would either be the ryzen 5 3600 and the moba or the rtx 2060 super ( I now the RTX would be bottlenecked). Probably i can afford again the other part in a few months after buying one, but what should i buy first?

Other thing, if i buy one of those what would give more fps on competitive games while i buy the other one.

Any suggestions ? :)

With both new Ryzen CPUs and Nvidia GPUs on the horizon later this year, it depends. If you do plan on utilizing ray tracing, i'd purchase the 3600 first (Can be upgraded later if you get a x570 motherboard)

I don´t think i would use ray tracing that much, maybe just minecraft and that stuff. But i´m looking to upgrade because i have some low fps on games

In that case the 2060 is a great choice, and will deliver good framerates with RTX off

I agree with @ShrimpBrime because while the 3600 delivers. Excellent performance with really good ipc

You will have to move to a different platform which will cost you more than the 2060 as a whole

So I recommend going with the 2060 as it won't be bottlenecked too hard by the 8100

Yessir. In the same rig too! why??

I just wanted to see how good the scaling would be and if there would be any trearing and how does it stack up against a 2070

Sorry if this is off topic but I'm a little interested :)

Oh you are asking if SLI hacked??

They are not. Run individually.

I use my 8700K rig mostly for 3D benching and Folding at Home.

My 2700x rig is down right now, so the Maximus X is housing both cards.

But usually, I run them individually.

My 2060 vs 2070? Depends.... 1080P, probably close to the same. Up the resolution, your 2070 starts spanking 2060 behind red.

2060 - entry level

2070 - Mid

2080 - Full HEDT gaming

Anything under 2060 is sub entry level HEDT gaming unless it can match the performance.

COD looking at 1080P aggressive full texture detail. Can get dips under 60 fps Full on Zombie explosions (off-line game play for FPS counter accuracy) many particles. It's still a very sweet experience for sure.

4K gaming looks ok, but under dogged by the 1400 Ryzen that's in the particular setup. Still spanks the current GTX 980 on 4K, but both seem good 1080P as the 980 has just barely the VRam available to max out textrure, but shadows left to be a down fall here.
