AMD Ryzen 3300x motherboard?

Hi all,

 

I'm looking to build a PC, and thought that buying the 3300x would be a great purchase. However, on PCPartPicker, it's giving me this error message on the motherboards im picking: Some AMD B450 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Matisse CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions.

Are these incompatible? If so, can someone recommend a board that is not too much more expensive that will work?

because the 3300x is really knew PCPartPicker is right... most of the B450 boarts will need a BIOS update to work with it...

All B450 boards will work for current gen Ryzen CPUs. That board is perfectly fine. 

 

All it's saying is that you may need to do a BIOS update to get it to work.

The part im worried about is: "Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions." Will I need to have an older CPU to upgrade the BIOS?

Yes might be best to wait for 550 or buy a cheap Athlon?

So are there any other motherboards that I can pick up that will work with the 3300x that are not too expensive? Or is there some way I can update the BIOS without having an older CPU?

That is hard to say, I would suspect the x570 "maybe" works since they are compatible with Zen 2... May not need a BIOS update on those but the issue here is that those cost more and I suspect 3300x will launch with 550 boards on same launch day!

I'm hoping to build my first pc soon and was going to get a 1600af until prices went up. I'm now wondering if it would be a good idea to push my budget higher and get a 3300x and x570 board because it sounds to me like it would allow me to upgrade to the Zen 3 in 2or more years down the line if i need to. Does that make sense?

Seems much safer than buying a 450 that is for sure...
