Hey guys, i got this old C2Q Q6600 system and the thermal paste was completely dried and the temps were like 98-100 celsius while the performance was down to 70%. so i took the heat sink off and cleaned it and the processor nicely, then i applied the new thermal paste. now the temps were in higher sixties, but the benchmarks are now giving me lower scores and fps in games is lower too. can someone tell why this happening and what can i do about this? any help would be appreciated....

That is a bit odd. I use to have a Q6600 way back when. Ever thought about just overclocking the crap out of it? If it is a G0 stepping you can easily get 3.4-3.6GHz from it.

Be sure to @Pickles von Brine if you want me to see your reply!

No, but if you found something like a gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R or GA-EP45-UD3P you can just fine.
