network HELP I'm capped at 100mbps

It seems like my connection is capped at 100mbps. I've tried to force it up to 1gig, and I've checked the cables and router.

Are you sure your PC has a Gbit network card/port on the motherboard? And the router as well? As @Lurick said, what type of motherboard and router are we talking about?

It is the asus b450 f gaming and it has a intel I211 gigibit port

I'm plugged into the modem and the model is the arris SURFboard SBG6580

The cables are all 5e

it could be a chance that the cat5e cables are damaged ...

as 100mbps needs 4 connectors to operate ...

1 gig needs 8

I've spent over 2 hours looking at the cables and the only thing i think would be broken is the plate

Im seeing about 40 to 60mbps 

and im paying for 175 down

Have you tried a different cable?

Have you tried a different port on the modem?

Does the cable you use to connect your PC to the modem work fine and show gigabit on another computer?

I've move the cable to a gigbit switch and it is still stuck at 100mbps

well, if the cable is bad, it would do that.

make a new cable/get a known good cable

See if it shows gigabit access tween you and switch or you and modem

Issue could be segment tween PC and Wall, In the wall, or wall to modem (or switch)

The cable run from my modem to my computer runs through the wall and into the attic and across my house. changing it would be a last ditch try
