Hi there, I bought a Xonar DX a round a year ago and everything was fine until i've upgraded my mobo to an MSI Z77A GD55. Now whenever i play games such as league of legends my friends on voice comms can here what sounds like a lawnmower in the background despite me not being able to hear anything and my surroundings quiet. My PC is fairly inaudible so it can't be that. I'm wondering if it's because the sound card is mounting directly under the fans of one of my 7850s. So it is possibly interfering as the sound card is shroundless.

Does anyone have any ideas.

thanks

yeah, the fans could definitely be it.  Did you try moving it to another slot?

I think the only solution is get something with a shield or go external.

preferably external IMO.

Will work for electronic components and parts

hmm seems like that might be the only options, just out of curiosity are external sound cards worse sound quality or are they on par? Obviously I dont want to spent heaps on a soundcard that is worse than my current :)

It's the same hardware connected to a USB cable.  Which means the analog side is contained outside the case, which makes things much easier.

Imo

External > internal > onboard

So yes, thirded

I'ved tried moving it, i have two free slot one between the two gfx cards and one directly below. Same issue in both slots D:

+1 to Newkid.  Must be something else.

My friend didnt have a sound card but this did happen to him, his main problem was his headset.
