CPU Upgrade (LGA1155)

Would an i3-2120 be suitable for light gaming or would it bottleneck even with a cheap GPU eg. rx570/580.

 

If it would bottleneck, what's my best and cheapest option for an LGA1155 CPU? I'm looking to spend literally as little as possible.

3770k is the highest you could put in.might to be able to find one one cheap.it is pretty old at this point

Would the 3770k require better cooling than the little stock cooler from Intel? (btw, it hasa 400W PSU, 80+ Bronze)

I might just get an i5 then, doesn't need to be the best at all. The i3 in it right now isn't unusable, just a little choppy.

I'm a bit of a noob with PC, do coolers just require normal power from the CPU fan plug?

Also, should I get a fan for the back of the case as well, only like £5

Uhm, just a quick question:

 

Your bio says you have an i5-9500. Why would you want to upgrade to a WAY older CPU?

Steppy up to an i5 is a poor half measure choice unless the i7 is unreasonably expensive.

 

You can throw a $10 AliExpress cooler on there and it will be perfectly fine.

 

Don't buy an i5 unless you have no choice.

That's my main PC. The one I'm talking about is just an old one I've got sitting in a cupboard.

coolers use the normal cpu 4 pin fan connector. rear fan would be a bonus and could get a free one if ya pinch it from an old pc

which motherboard are you using?does it support the intel 3rd gen?some boards only for 2nd gen...
