AMD has just launched a new pair of Piledriver/Vishera CPUs.
They are the FX 6350 & the FX 4350, both are higher clocked versions of the FX 6300 & the FX 4300.
Good news is that they will cost the same as their lower clocked siblings ! which should make overclockers on a budget quite happy !

But their TDP.. still hellishly high as ever >.<

That's actually a trick AMD does to indicate what type of cooler the CPU comes with.

95W CPUs come with weaker 95W rated coolers & 125W CPUs come with 125W rated coolers that will allow for further overclocking.

That's why you see an FX 8350 @ 4.0-4.2Ghz rated at 125W while a 6 core FX 6350 @ 3.9-4.2Ghz rated also at 125W.

But then how do we know how much power the CPU actually uses?

Any improvement for the same price is better than none.

very true.

personally, I want to see steamroller. I might get a 8450 (already on an AM3+ platform) but to be honest I need an SSD first... these BF3 maps take too long to load.

i think a ssd and good internet connection might fix your loading issues

We'll have to wait for reviews.

I absolutely agree, what they basically did was 3 things, 1-Ramped up the clock speeds, 2-Added more cache for the quad core CPU & 3-Provided better CPU coolers straight out of the box.

And all for the same price, that's admirable I believe.

Agreed.

No not really. Go anywhere outside and people swear all the time reading it in someones sentence isn't the end of the world. I don't think people should get punished for saying a swear word. Something derogatory than yea but not swearing.

But onto the topic. Seems pointless to get the 4 core over the 6 core. Lower performance for saving $10. But nice to see some kind of improvements even if minor.
