Yesterday I got a schiit fuller 3 DAC and HD 6XX headphones. I was super excited to try them out and plugged them to my laptop and to my surprise the audio quality wasn't as improved as what I was expecting. I was previously using a Hyper X cloud 2 headset with no DAC and was convinced the quality would significantly improve with these headphones and using a DAC(for the first time). I feel like I'm missing something to hear more than a minor difference. I've tried restarting my pc, listening to cd quality or better audio files, using amazon's HD music stream service, increasing the sample and bit rate to the maximum 32/192k, and disabled realtek audio. I spent $300 total just to feel like "meh" about my investment. How can I improve or maximize my audio experience with this current setup?

I think your amp is under-powered. You might need something like magni 3+ to power hd 6xx

Not to disagree with @Gundar but all the threads I can find about the Fulla 2 and 6xx seem to suggest they should be able to power it just fine
Perhaps you're not as critical of a listener as you thought you were? By all metrics you should notice a large difference but maybe it isn't something that you're noticing. As for sample rates, you can't hear any difference between 24bit 44.1K and the maximum so there's really no reason to go above 44.1

I'm sorry that you feel this way about your purchase and perhaps you have faulty equipment but you really should be seeing a massive difference in quality.

Did you actually try or audition anything ?

You might not actually like how they sound.

I had Alessandro MS-1s, have Beyer T70s currently.

I listened to quite a few when making my choices.

I really don't like AKG's I've tried, they're not bad, just not for me. I don't like the sound.

DACs and amps can vary if you have fairly easily driven headphones, reasonably decent signal chain already it can be fairly minor.

Also I don't rate Schiit but that's just from being around since the CMoy DIY days, O2 drama and various off topic reasons.

Can be source material as well.

You just know it, when you hear a song that you know off by heart but it sounds like you're hearing it for the first time. Then when you just can't stop playing through your library to hear what you've been missing the whole time.

If you're not getting that... well that sucks.

While it should be able to power it fine of theost part the 650/6xx definitely appreciates and scales very well with higher end amps due to the fact that the low end  on the headphones are notoriously hard to power. Another thing OP could be experiencing is the fact that he went to a flatter headphone so losing some of the treble and low end that he's used to and overall the 650 may not be a good pairing to the music he listens to. Another big things here is the 650 isn't very good for gaming in the first place
