2 xeon x5660 on a Lenovo Mother Board

so i have 2 CPus with 16 GB of Ram 1,000 Watt Power supply, Asus 1060 3gb and i want a fast speed NVME into a PCIE Adapter, 

i know Sata would be enough speed, but am also wondering would the NVME adapter work ? 

if not i know Sata would do a nice job,

It should work fine but I think you cannot boot off of an nvme drive on such old platforms, even with the pcie adapter.
