AMD blackout rig

 

cpu: ryzen 5 3600 @4.4ghz @1.35v

gpu: rx5700xt 2200mhz

ram: vengeance lpx c15 3200mhz

mobo: gigabyte b550 auros pro 

psu: cooler master mwe 650w

case: masterbox mbx520

fans:Noctua industrial 3000rpm x6

1. The 3100/3300x is going to give you i7-7700k-like performance for $99/$120. That's already faster than the Ryzen 5 2600 at gaming.

2. The 3300x has only one CCX, which fixes the core-core latency of all current Ryzen CPUs. Get that for gaming.

 

The 3rd generation chips have a large uplift in performance over their 2nd generation counterparts.

Judging by the leaked Geekebench 5 benchmark, the 3100X would beat it in single core performance, presumably the 3300X too.

In multi-core performance, the 2600 just has a more cores, so that's a no there.
