I am wondering if it would be a good idea to make a Minecraft server with the 3960X. I know the i9 9900KS or soon the i9 10900K would be better for single thread processing with 2 of them like the LTT mc server, but I need to know which one would be the best for cpu usage and single thread processing.

move this to cpus please

i9-10980xe 4.5ghz all cores | EVGA RTX 2080 XC ultra clocked at 1965mhz and memory clocked at 8417mhz | 128gb 3200mhz |

that many cores won't get put to good use. A ryzen 7 CPU would more than suffice.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

really depends on what those VMs are doing then. sometimes it makes sense to run a VM off a single core, since there are basic tasks that are just fine with that.

Only you know what your compute needs are, and if you think you can leverage all those cores, then it's up to you.

You should edit your OP to state that, the title is kinda unclear and the PCPP list makes it look like you're trolling ; people do this all the time, "is this build ok for *insert simple use case here* " and then post a PCPP list with ridiculous amount of RAM, storage and similar over the top stuff ... but in this case, since it's a VM host, it makes sense.

Just so you can avoid weird replies or no replies at all ;)
